Inflation NewsBot: What For?
The NewsBot is a key resource for bottom-up / short-term inflation forecasting.
It identifies potentially relevant item-level news, from scanning a large volume of news websites ranging from generalist newspapers to specialised professional publications. One major challenge in inflation forecasting is to identify the idiosyncratic shocks which drive the near-term outlook (see also this).
News identified as relevant by our specially trained language models are then processed, to identify the country, sector and sign. The news are also summarised, translated and rated.
The NewsBots are delivered in several formats: email, JSON endpoints, website app and full-fledged text database - see further details here.
